Visual Tree Assessment Training

April 19, 2018 | Crossroads Community Center
WRPA Members $149 | Non-Members $159

Join us on April 19 for this incredible Park Resource Network event, Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) Training. This course is designed to expand attendees' understanding of Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) and help you gain practical field experience in the company of other practicing arborists.

VTA is an important skill that takes practice and experience to understand. Tree climbers can increase safety and improve their pruning skills using VTA and tree assessors of all kinds, including those involved in tree service sales, can provide a better service to their clients using VTA. Come learn from speaker Scott D. Baker, Principal and Founder of Tree Solutions Inc. (Seattle, WA) to learn more.

NRPA Blog Highlight: Opioid Abuse in Public Areas

Limited Duty Applicable to Overdose Cardiac Arrest

By James C. Kozlowski, J.D., Ph.D.

With opioid abuse on the rise, many parks and recreation agencies have been faced with serious and life-threatening situations in their facilities and parks. In response to the epidemic, “some local governments have spent tens of thousands of dollars on Nalaxone,” a prescription medicine that reverses an overdose. Whether or not your organization has faced a similar situation, this is a trending crisis and something to start talking about. NRPA put out a great article to help professionals learn about the risk management side of this issue.

2018 Risk Management School Was Sold Out

Thank You for Joining Us January 24–25

WRPA hosted another informative and crucial WRPA Risk Management School (RMS) in January. We sold out registration and had more than 170 recreation and park professionals join us in Federal Way to learn more about best practices in risk management for parks, playgrounds, and recreation programs.

A Message from the RMS Committee

On behalf of the RMS Committee, we want to thank all of the January RMS attendees, volunteers, and presenters for your time and commitment.

Please know that from the beginning, we were excited to offer you a school that was interactive, informative, and educational. We are proud to have provided attendees with the opportunity to connect with one another and share not only their passion to play, but also their passion to learn and embrace risk, as it is a part of the good work we all do every day.
