Now that we are all in recovery planning, WRPA is offering local agencies some COVID-19 support. Hear from experts, break into facilitated topic discussion, and more! Come to the full series or join us for a session or two. This series is specifically designed for leaders, managers, directors, and decision-makers within your agency.

COVID-19 Risk Management Virtual Workshop Series Pricing

Please Note: There is a discount for those Member Agencies sending three or more to the full series, $25 off each registrant (email the WRPA Office for the special code)

Registration for each session will close at 8:30 AM the Friday prior.


Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WCIA) will reimburse the cost of up to 5 WRPA Member registrations or an equivalent combination, not to exceed $445 per WCIA member. Reimbursement funding is available upon program completion. Questions, please contact WCIA Member Services at [email protected].

The Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) provides scholarships to help its members attend pre-approved workshops and trainings. RMSA Scholarships are only available to current members of the RMSA. Members must submit an application, prior to attending an event, for consideration of scholarship approval by RMSA staff. RMSA Scholarships provide reimbursement of registration costs only for trainings intended to improve risk management skills or reduce liability and property risk exposures and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. To find out if your city or town is eligible, please contact [email protected] or call (360) 753-4137.

Enduris will provide a scholarship/reimbursement for the cost of one registration, per Enduris member,  for the Full Series or an equivalent combination, not to exceed $189.  Please contact  Sindy Joseph [email protected] for follow up.

 

Washington County Risk Pool (WCRP) members are eligible for up to $189 reimbursement per county for either Full Series registration or a combination of Single Session registrations. Reimbursements are limited to one per member county, not to exceed $189. The WCRP asks that you please contact your county risk manager if you wish to utilize a scholarship. To learn more about the WCRP scholarship program or to find out if your county is eligible, please contact [email protected].

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be submitted via email WRPA. Cancellations submitted on or before July 30, 2020 will receive a refund, less a $20 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after July 30, 2020. Substitute attendees will be permitted, and requests for substitutions must be submitted via email.

Technical Failure Policy: It is the responsibility of the attendee to confirm system requirements and test their computers prior to the start of the webinar. If a technical failure is the fault of the service provider and the webinar is canceled, a full refund will be provided. This series will NOT be recorded.

COVID-19 Risk Management Virtual Workshop Series Speakers

Amy Gillespie | Pierce County Department of Emergency Management

Biography: Amy Gillespie has over ten years of experience in emergency management.  She has led many programs to include alert and warning, emergency operation centers, planning, training and exercises, and recovery.  Before joining Pierce County, she spent three years with King County Office of Emergency Management, four years with Pierce County Department of Emergency Management and four years with Washington State Emergency Management. She has lead programs that have attained national recognition to include Child Abduction Response Teams, Emergency Management Accreditation, and Complex Coordinated Terrorist prevention. She earned her FEMA professional certificate from the Emergency Management Advanced Academy and holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Central Washington University. Ms. Gillespie just completed the Master’s Degree Program at the Naval Post Graduate School studying in the Center for Homeland Defense and Security. She also is an International Association of Emergency Managers Certified Emergency Manager. 

Shannon Ragonesi | KBM Lawyers

Biography: Shannon is a shareholder and member of the Board of Directors of KBM. Her law practice encompasses civil rights litigation, employment litigation, labor law, school law, public records act litigation, and wrongful death and personal injury defense. She represents governmental agencies, school districts, schools, fire districts, police agencies, and their employees; as well as private corporations and individuals. Shannon has represented her clients in over 60 jury and bench trials in federal and state courts and labor arbitrations. She has also expertly represented her clients before the Washington state Court of Appeals and Supreme Court as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. As a further, integral part of her law practice, Shannon investigates potential claims and provides guidance to her clients on litigation avoidance strategies.

Prior to joining Keating, Bucklin & McCormack, Inc., P.S., Shannon was a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corp where she served for over five years as a Senior Prosecuting Attorney, a Senior Torts Attorney, Chief of Military Justice, and a Military Magistrate.

Jennifer Hill | King County Risk Manager

Biography: 

Jennifer Hills has been the Director of Risk Management for King County, Washington since 2003. King County, which includes the Seattle-Bellevue metropolitan area, is the 13th largest County in the United States serving a population of over 2 million. King County, through its 15,000 employees, provides direct and regional services such as public health and community services, parks and recreation, wastewater treatment, and criminal justice. King County also operates the regional transportation network including bus, light rail, street car, and passenger ferry services, as well as the King County International Airport.

Jennifer is responsible for establishing a culture of balanced risk taking using a risk-value framework, implementing ERM, and managing a broad risk management program.

Jennifer received her B.A. in Business from the University of Washington, and her ARM-P and CRM designations. In 2018, Jennifer was named Public Risk Manager of the Year by the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) and was named to the Risk and Insurance Management Society’s (RIMS) Risk Management Honor Roll.
