WRPA's 2020 Conference Cancelled
Learn More Below

Dear

We wanted you to be the first to know, the WRPA Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the WRPA Annual Conference scheduled in Tacoma, Washington, 21 April – 24 April 2020. Unfortunately, the venue did not have adequate dates available later in the year to ensure attendance or financial success for the Association.

The Board reached this difficult decision after concluding that it would be impossible to hold the conference as planned at a later date. It should come as no surprise to anyone that the coronavirus continues to spread in Washington (and elsewhere) and that the number of COVID-19 cases in Washington continues to increase. This has resulted in the Governor of Washington declaring a state of emergency, in addition to the other emergency declarations that have been issued by the CDC and WHO.

As WRPA is planning for what's next, we are thinking about you all and will be working on ways to stay connected and support each other through the WRPA website and other creative venues. In the meantime, the conference’s cancellation is uncharted territory for WRPA, and we appreciate your patience as we work through this challenge and explore the best path forward.

In the next several weeks, we will be refunding all registered conference attendees their full amount. We appreciate your patience as our finance department processes the refunds.

As we mentioned in the previous email, we want to recognize the outstanding work of the Conference Committee, the Conference Education Committee, Partnership Committee, and the countless other volunteers who contributed to our Conference theme "Embracing Equity." Although we will miss seeing everyone in Tacoma at the end of April, WRPA will continue our communication of the next steps.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact the office at [email protected]. Stay safe and healthy during this time.
