We all know that exercising, being in nature and participating in recreation programs can improve physical and m ental health and prevents costly diseases and conditions. Many members of our communities have experienced systemic inequities and discrimination, as well as experience barriers in accessing healthcare which negatively affec t health outcomes. There is an opportunity to harness equitable, low and n o-cost options for all people to be active and healthy - just as we experie nced record levels of park and recreation use and activity during the COVID -19 pandemic. The concept of prescribing parks and programs for their bene fits isn’t new, but establishing a framework to better connect healthcare w orkers with clients, facilitate a parks prescription for fee and non-fee ba sed park and recreation opportunities AND obtain reimbursement from healthc are insurers has eluded us. Come learn about a proposal to establish multi ple pilot projects to develop and test such a system.
Top Reason to A ttend: There is no better time than now, when the value of parks and recre ation has been clearly elevated in response to the pandemic, for us to prom ote the message of the benefits of parks and recreation!
This event is free and open to everyone. Reg
