Topic: Designing Performance-Based Playground Safety Surfacing Specifications

Description:  ASTM F1292 is the governing Standard for regulating the safety performance of playground surfacing. It is an essential and relevant document for anyone considering the purchase of a playground safety surface. The document, however, is highly technical, and even a careful read can prove too technical to provide meaningful information to the average reader. The following course has been designed to provide insight into the key concepts of the document using everyday language and terms you can understand. The course further explains how the information contained within the Standard can be used to create a performance-based safety surfacing specification. If you are involved in specifying or purchasing playground surfacing, this course is a must.

Learning Outcomes:

-Unravel the key terms and concepts within the ASTM 1292 standard using everyday language and examples.

-Provide the tools to allow you to explain the most important concepts in the Standard to a customer in simplistic but effective terms.

-Discuss methods of designing a performance-based specification or purchasing contract that will utilize concepts from the ASTM F-1292 standard to legitimize the specification and protect your customers' investment.
