American Red Cross Lifeguarding - Blended Learning Format

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. This program offers a choice of Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.

Pre-requisites: 15 years of age, must pass pre-test consisting of a swimming 300 yards continuously. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; complete a timed event in 1 minute and 40 seconds: swim 20 yards surface dive to retrieve a 10 lb. object from deep water and swim with it 20 yards, exit the water without using a ladder. Certifications are awarded providing online content was completed, all sessions were attended and successful completion of all skill sessions and written exams.  American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
