Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) Training

Registration is now closed.

Cost:
WRPA Members: $149
Non-Members: $159

About:

The goal of this course is to expand attendees' understanding of Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) and to gain some practical field experience in the company of other practicing arborists. VTA is an important skill that takes practice and experience to understand. Tree climbers can increase safety and improve their pruning skills using VTA. Tree assessors of all kinds including those involved in tree service sales can provide a better service to their clients using VTA.

The science behind VTA will be covered. We will review the tree biology, biomechanics, and species characteristics that help VTA practitioners make their assumptions in the field. A portion of the class time will be devoted to hands-on assessment of trees using VTA. Bring basic field tools, a desire to learn and share knowledge with others, and a clipboard with writing materials for our field activities. Half of the session will be held in the classroom and half will be outdoors.

Who Should Attend:

A certified arborist or anyone interested in arboriculture. Any parks, natural resources, street tree maintenance, or trails employees.
