Capital Budget and Local Parks Funding Discussion with WA State Senators

Speakers:  Senators Frockt, Mullet, Honeyford, Schoesler, and Kevin Van De Wege
Host:  Roxanne Miles, WRPA Legislative Chair

Our parks, trails and natural lands are prized in Washington State.  Capital investments to sustain, expand and redevelop our collective local parks systems come largely through established grant programs in the state’s biennial Capital Budget.  That budget doesn’t cover local parks M&O needs, so tools to help address those needs are vital. Join us to listen to the Washington Recreation and Parks Association (WWRP) and Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition (WWRC) speak to their joint capital budget priorities, and hear from Members of the Senate Ways and Means Committee who can share their outlook for outdoor recreation grant funding programs and brief us a on a local parks funding options bill (SB 5006).

Tentative Agenda

NOTE: Legislative Speakers from the Senate will provide a preview for Great Outdoors Day attendees on state-of-play of Capital Budget, and perspective on other potential legislation impacting outdoor recreation. Q&A woven in and participants also can use chat box for questions.
