2019 Conference Session Highlights

Consider joining one of our Wednesday presenters, Donna Hutchinson, co-owner of a Vancouver fitness and wellness studio for her sessions "Preventing Ageism: A Social and Psychological Perspective", and "Performance Review Makeover".

Donna will dig deep into the issues related to ageism to help attendees gain a greater appreciation of the challenges faced by older adults and help them avoid unintentionally perpetuating stereotypes. Donna's perspective on reviews will also help attendees understand how motivation relates to performance and discover coaching techniques that will help them collaboratively set performance objectives and build a stronger working alliance.

On Thursday attendees can join presenter Lori A. Hoffner from Supporting CommUnity, Inc. for her illuminating sessions on the "why" of work and the power of storytelling.

Improve staff retention by attending "The Why of Work: Aligning Passion and Strengths to Get the Job Done" a session that will address leadership practices geared toward empower staff and creating buy-in and loyalty. Learn about the difference between transactional leadership and transformational leadership by attending, "Moving Into the Future: The Power of Your Story". Then gain further storytelling insight with "The Mission of Your Work and the Power of Your Story". Understand the importance of establishing and maintaining positive relationships of trust to gain the support of the local communities. Gaining that trust comes not only from the work that you do but also from the story we tell about the mission and goal of our organization.
