Online Registration Closes April 23 at Midnight

Time is running out to register for the 2018 WRPA Conference & Tradeshow. Don't miss your opportunity to build new relationships with colleagues and vendors, learn about the issues facing our industry, and take a break to have some fun. Learn more about what conference has to offer below. Even if you have already registered, take a moment to see which activities and sessions you want to attend.

Tuesday, May 1: Speed Sessions, Tours, and Golf

NEW! Speed Sessions 3:30 PM – 5:20 PM

Meet up with colleagues and exhibitors for the chance to attend up to three of the eight 30-minute speed sessions. These sessions will be jammed packed with industry insight. Topics range from learning how to negotiate the best ticket prices to organizational culture and leadership.

Local Educational Tours 12:00 PM – 5:20 PM

Sign up today to reserve your spot on either the South King County parks tour or the South King County community centers tourBoth tours are free for conference attendees. Pre-registration is required and there is limited space available. If you are not able to go to the conference, but you would like to attend the parks or community center tours, you can register online for only $15.

 

WRPA Golf Tournament 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Join recreation and park professionals from across the state for the fun and friendly WRPA Golf Tournament. This event will be held at the Foster Links Golf Course and will be run as a scramble. Registration for this event is separate from your conference registration and is $66 per golfer. The first 60 registered players will receive a sleeve of WRPA branded golf balls.

Opening Night Social 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Join your friends and colleagues on the first day of the conference. Make new connections and kick off the fun with a party. Visit with more than 40 vendors in the exhibit hall and gather into teams of two or more and get ready for some trivia. Prizes will be awarded to teams with the best team name, best-themed outfits, and best trivia players. Light appetizers and a no-host bar will be available.

Wednesday, May 2: Keynote, Awards Banquet, and Maytoberfest

 

Keynote Presentation 9:00 AM – 10:15 PM

Be sure to catch the Wednesday keynote presentation, "It's Game Time! Life Lessons from a Former Pro Female Football Player" with international speaker, consultant, trainer, and business coach Jan Spence. Watch Jan's video to learn a little more about her.

Don't miss the 16 educational sessions WRPA is also presenting on Wednesday, covering relevant topics like LGBTQIA and inclusivity, preschool and playrounds, and culture and communication.

Reception 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM

Awards Banquet 5:45 PM – 7:00 PM

Join us in honoring and celebrating the 2018 professionals, parks, and program award winners at this year's banquet. WRPA recognizes several awards in the categories of professional awards, citation of merit awards, and spotlight awards.

Maytoberfest Social 7:00 PM – The Party Ends

Take the time to cut loose and have some fun after the WRPA Awards Banquet. Unwind at a Maytoberfest-themed event with a cash bar and light hors-d'oeuvres. For your entertainment, there will be a mechanical bull, cornhole, hammerschlagen, music, a game room, and more! 


Thursday, May 3: Hot Topics and Trending Sessions

NEW! Hot Topic Discussions 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Conference attendees can also catch up on industry trends by attending our Hot Topics sessions on Thursday morning. These one-hour sessions will be facilitated as round-table discussions. They provide you with a great chance to learn from others who may be dealing with the same challenges. We’ll be covering topics like homelessness in parks, equitable field allocation scheduling, and more.

15 Educational Sessions & Three Network Meetings 10:15 AM – 3:40 PM

Choose which sessions or network meetings you want to attend on Thursday. Educational sessions will cover topics like marketing tax credits, data evaluation, membership success, youth-lead programming, equity, and equality. Pick three sessions to attend or join up with professionals from your sector during a facilities network, field allocation network, or aquatics network meeting.


Volunteer at Conference

WRPA needs volunteers to help with a variety of activities throughout the week. WRPA would not be able to host such an amazing conference each year without the help of professionals like you.

Open volunteer positions include:

  • WRPA Golf Tournament Check-in
  • Parks Tour Check-in
  • Conference Check-in
  • Post-Banquet Social Set Up
  • Conference Session Hosts
