WRPA 2018 Fall Leadership Summit

"Leveraging Data to Drive New Partnerships for Health Equity"

Date/Time: Tuesday, October 9 | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Speakers: Cary Simmons | The Trust for Public Land; David Olson | CEO Columbia Valley Community Health; Joanne Hill | Columbia Valley Community Health

Description: Parks are anchors for community health and well-being, but often those health benefits are not optimized to their greatest potential.  The Trust for Public Land is partnering with health organizations across the state to ensure that community open spaces serve not only as spaces for recreation but also for physical fitness, improved mental health, and social cohesion. Two community health organizations join The Trust for Public Land in sharing stories and lessons on how to leverage strong partnerships between the health and park sectors utilizing healthy equity data and measurements.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn how to build health data into site selection for new park and trail projects.
  • Participants will develop a stronger understanding of how their park and trail projects and programs can leverage partnerships, funding, and programming with healthcare providers.
