Scholarships

Aquatic Section Leadership Scholarship - Application 
No deadline.  Scholarships are reviewed monthly.
The Scholarship has been created in memory of Aquatic Professional Roberta Galloway.  Roberta was one of the founding members of the Aquatic Section. 

Athletic/Fitness Section Leadership Scholarship - Application
Deadline February 24, 2012.
Must be a current WRPA Athletic/Fitness Section Member and employed in the field of Parks and Recreation in Washington State.  Scholarships in the amount of up to $300 are intended to be used toward training and/or education related to the field of Parks and Recreation. 

Park Resource Section Scholarship - Application
Deadline December 1, 2011
The Park Resource Section is offering one full registration scholorship valued at $1,185 for the 2012 Pacific Northwest Resource Management School. The two year school is designed to serve park and recreation maintenance as well as executives, supervisory personnel, and those responsible for planning, budgeting and providing stweardship of public assets. 

Program Services Section Leadership Scholarship - Application

Successful applicants may receive up to $300 intended to be used toward training and/or education related to the field of Parks and Recreation.

Risk Management School - application
Deadline December 1, 2011
WRPA is pleased to partner with the Public Risk Management Association to offer three (3) scholarships covering registration to the WRPA Risk Management School.  This opportunity is open to all WRPA members regardless of agency insurance provider.

Teen Section Scholarship - updating
Deadline February 24, 2012
The scholarship funds can be used for training registration fees, up to $300.  Hotel/travel expenses will not be covered with scholarship funds. Applicants must be members of the WPRA Teen Services Section and currently employed in the field of Parks and Recreation in Washington State.  Deadline February 24, 2012.

Mickey Corso Professional Leadership Training Grant - application

Recipients apply their awards toward desired continuing education in the field of parks and recreation. About The Mickey Corso Professional Leadership Grant
Mickey Corso – January 3, 1942- November 9, 1990.  WRPA President, 1989-1990.  As a tribute to Mickey and the professional leadership he provided in the field of parks and recreation, his family, friends and co-workers have established the Mickey Corso Leadership Scholarship.  Each year scholarships are awarded to professionals in the field of parks and recreation who demonstrate the leadership, commitment and professional qualities for which Mickey will be remembered.

The scholarship awards can be used for post-graduate training such as NRPA schools, graduate courses or other areas relating to park and recreation leadership. Scholarships are awarded at our annual conference in April.
